To one degree or another, we all have fallen into at least one of these four categories. All dilemmas equally desperate, the remedy is the same: cry out to God for help. A simple prayer is all he is waiting for. Why doesn’t he intervene without our prayers? Perhaps because God doesn’t go where He is not invited.

Group one. Psalm 107:4-9
These people lost their bearings. They wandered away from God and became destitute. They were homeless, lost, hungry, and thirsty. But when they cried out to God he rescued them and “led them straight to safety,” satisfying their hunger both literally and spiritually.

Group two. Psalm 107:10-16
These people lost their mind. They turned from the blessed promises of God and found themselves in a very dark place emotionally and intellectually. This led to a season of brokenness in which they became enslaved and hopeless. They cried out to God, in desperation and he led them out of their darkness and gloom, snapping the chains of their slavery, setting them free.

Group three. Psalm 107:17-22
These people lost their health. Foolish decisions led them to turn their backs on God which led to illness. They cried out to God, and he “sent His Word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.”

Group four. Psalm 107:23-32
These people lost their moorings. They were busy and distracted with their work and travel. One storm came up and they just about lost everything; they were terrorized with fear. They cried out to God and he calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. “What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!” (verse 30)

If you have lost your bearings, your mind, your health, or your moorings, cry out to God with us today.

God!

Help!
