{"id":2352,"date":"2015-08-11T11:35:31","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T15:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/prayerplainandsimple\/?p=2352"},"modified":"2015-08-11T11:35:31","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T15:35:31","slug":"a-prayer-to-break-bondages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/prayerplainandsimple\/2015\/08\/a-prayer-to-break-bondages.html","title":{"rendered":"A Prayer to Break Bondages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><em><strong>Good News for the Oppressed<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<em><strong>The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> for the Lord has anointed me<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> to bring good news to the poor.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> and to proclaim that captives will be released<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> and prisoners will be freed.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>He has sent me to tell those who mourn<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> that the time of the Lord\u2019s favor has come,<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> and with it, the day of God\u2019s anger against their enemies.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>To all who mourn in Israel,<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>a joyous blessing instead of mourning,<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> festive praise instead of despair.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong> that the Lord has planted for his own glory. (Isaiah 61:1-3)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Whatever your situation, God has some good news for you today. He can work with whatever you give Him and turn it into something much more than mediocre. In His hands, our lives can become something wonderful and beautiful. This is what the anointing of Jesus provides for those who come to Him:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Comfort for the brokenhearted<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Release for those in bondage<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Favor for those who are sad<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Vengeance on behalf of the mistreated<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Beauty for those who grieve<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Praise for those who are depressed<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Honor for those who have experienced shame<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Provision for those who are suffering<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">That pretty much sums up any and every negative situation\u00a0one might encounter. Take your circustances\u00a0and yourself to Jesus, allow the anointing of the Holy Spirit to turn your life around. It&#8217;s a process, but with patience, perseverance, and trust, it will happen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Lord,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Take my broken life and fix my heart. Give me a new heart, a new opportunity to be born again \u2013 to reboot my life. From now on I will live according to your owner&#8217;s manual.\u00a0Just like\u00a0putting salad dressing in my gas tank wrecks my car, I have wrecked my life by doing my own thing. I haven&#8217;t followed your ways, and I repent. Today, I make You leader and Lord of this life of mine. I am yours. Everything I am and everything I have! And I determine to follow you hook, line, and sinker for the rest of my days. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>I&#8217;m Yours!
