Loving and forgiving oneself\u00a0is no less of a challenge. Reading in Proverbs today, this Scripture stood out as though I have never run across it before. (I love that about the Word of God \u2013 it is <em>alive and active<\/em>. I can chase it down and never catch it, drink it down and\u00a0never drain it to the dregs.)\u00a0\u00a0It contains a profound secret: a secret to loving yourself.\u00a0\u00a0Simply put, it is this: learning \u2013 growing in our understanding, listening to, reading, and searching for wisdom, polishing our skills and honing our efforts. As we make these investments in our own minds and souls, we are\u00a0giving\u00a0ourselves a gracious gift.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Father,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Thank you for the truth of your Word. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Help me, please, to love myself as you have instructed\u00a0me. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Give me grace to hunger for wisdom, <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>to look for it in everyday life, <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>to find the nugget of wisdom in every conversation, <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>to simply be curious,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>to\u00a0ask the right questions,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>to desire the health and growth of my soul, <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>and to do the hard, tedious work of acquiring skill.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Amen.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To acquire wisdom is to love yourself.
