\nAs they all do,

\nMany used wisely,

Another year opens,
\nAs they all do,
\nWith anticipation,
\nWith wonder and amazement,
\nWith excitement.
\nWith consolation.<\/p>\n

Was last year so different from the one before?
\nWhat will the New Year bring?
\nWhat will I bring to the New Year?<\/p>\n

This I pledge to myself:
\nLove is my answer to grief,
\nHope is my answer to loss,
\nStrength is my answer to fear,
\nHonor is my answer to slander,
\nAction is my answer to injustice.<\/p>\n

This I pledge to you
\nDear sisters and brothers:
\nTo see you as you are,
\nTo respect your journey,
\nTo hear your truth,
\nTo stand with you in dignity,
\nTo walk with you as a companion and friend.<\/p>\n

This I pledge to You
\nGod of my ancestors:
\nTo seek Your wisdom,
\nTo follow Your command,
\nTo obey Your Law,
\nTo observe Your Sabbath,
\nTo rejoice in Your works,
\nTo do Your will.<\/p>\n

God of time and space,
\nAnother year slips away,
\nAs they all do.
\nAnother year opens before me,
\nAs they all do:
\nWith one hundred choices,
\nOne thousand possibilities
\nAnd one sacred duty.
