Daily Prayer<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>I was thinking,
\nthe other day,
\nabout tea roses.
\nThe splendid profusion
\nof hybrids\u2014
\ntwo beautiful plants
\nbred together
\ninto something
\nstartlingly new
\nand impossibly lovely.<\/p>\n

And it occurred to me
\nthat it was something like a marriage:
\nThe two of us,
\nstarting out foreign to one another,
\nthen growing together
\ninto something
\nwe never could have dreamed:
\nA perfect, blooming wonder.<\/p>\n

And I realized:
\nYou have been our sun,
\nprotecting and warming us.
\nYou have been our gardener,
\ntending and protecting us.
\nYou have been our bioengineer,
\nbringing us together,
\nknowing we were better together
\nthan alone.<\/p>\n

I thank You
\nfor this love
\nthat is bigger than myself.
\nI thank You for my marriage,
\nthis remarkable rose.<\/p>\n
