Two separate mobs from different mosques chanted anti-government and pro-Islamic slogans as\u00a0they burned tires in front of the church. Police dispersed the crowd.<\/p>\n

The clashes\u00a0came after\u00a0American preacher\u00a0Terry Jones oversaw the burning of a\u00a0Koran on March 20 at his 30-member church in Florida.\u00a0He told the news media that a \u201ctrial\u201d\u00a0had been\u00a0conducted in the church, which found the\u00a0Koran guilty of crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n

Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari condemned the act and Islamic groups have announced a countrywide protest to take place on March 25.<\/p>\n

In Lahore, most of the 250 Christian families in the\u00a0neighborhood around the church\u00a0have sent their daughters to relatives for fear of further violence.<\/p>\n
