For some, it is unthinkable that the producer of such wildly popular TV shows like \u201cThe Voice,\u201d \u201cSurvivor,\u201d \u201cThe Apprentice,\u201d and \u201cShark Tank\u201d is the same producer who brought us the epic miniseries last spring, \u201cThe Bible.\u201d And for some, it may be a surprise to know that that producer, Mark Burnett, is married to \u201cthat girl,\u201d Roma Downey from TV\u2019s \u201cTouched by an Angel.\u201d But it\u2019s true and together, the pair is a powerhouse.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bible\u201d miniseries became the number one cable telecast of the year and was nominated for three Emmy\u00ae awards, meaning that it wasn\u2019t just a good showing by the audience, but that the TV industry was impressed with it as well. On one hand, this shouldn\u2019t be surprising since Burnett has had much success with many of the TV shows that he has created, but this one was his first miniseries and it aired on the History channel. Although happy with the success, he and Downey are not done yet.<\/p>\n

Last week Twentieth Century Fox announced that it would be releasing \u201cSon of God,\u201d a follow up to \u201cThe Bible\u201d series, into theaters nationwide on February 28, 2014. \u201cNow, the larger-than-life story of Jesus gets a larger-than-life treatment\u201d says the release. \u201cTold with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar\u00ae-winner Hans Zimmer.\u201d Diogo Morgado also reprises his role as Jesus, a role that was suited him well.<\/p>\n

So far, only a few have seen the finished film, but those who have, have been impressed. “I’ve seen most of the films about Jesus produced in the past 50 years. \u201cSon of God\u201d stands alone, in a class by itself.\u201d Says Pastor Rick Warren. \u201cIt is a powerful and poignant movie. The best Jesus movie I have ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rev. Sam Rodriguez, President of the Hispanics Evangelical Alliance says, “Son of God fills the big screen with two catalytic elements: the passion of the cross and the purpose of the empty tomb, forgiveness and eternal life. Son of God is not just a production worth watching it is a gift worth experiencing.”<\/p>\n

“I would recommend to individuals, and particularly to families, this wonderful story of the Son of God in order to be inspired all over again with the story of God’s love for us, says Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington DC. \u201cIt is a joy to watch this film bring alive the pages of the Gospel to help us see what those who lived at the time of Jesus experienced.”<\/p>\n

On the recent broadcast of the Dove Awards, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey shared that the reason that they have continued beyond \u201cThe Bible\u201d series was simply because they felt a calling to do so. “We are very excited to be working with Twentieth Century Fox to release \u201cSon of God\u201d as a major motion picture,” said Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. “We responded to an overwhelming demand for the greatest story ever told to be seen as a shared experience on the big screen.
