You, yes, you have to! <\/em><br \/>\nNobody likes to be told what to do. Nobody likes to hear &#8220;You SHOULD&#8221; &#8230;&#8221;You MUST&#8221; &#8230; &#8220;You HAVE to.&#8221;  And YET!!! &#8230; We are constantly telling ourselves what to do.<br \/>\nThink about how often the word &#8220;should&#8221; comes up in your thoughts. <em>&#8220;I should do this; I should do that. I must do this; I must do that. I have to do this; I have to do that.&#8221;<\/em> All day long, we are shouting (yes, SHOUTING) orders at ourselves.<br \/>\n<strong>Why is SHOULD soooooo irritating?<\/strong><br \/>\nPerhaps understanding why the &#8216;should, must, and have to&#8217;s&#8217; are so irritating might help.<br \/>\nThey imply obligation. You agree that you &#8216;should,&#8217; but you don&#8217;t &#8216;want to.&#8217; So, if you do what you &#8216;should do,&#8217; resentment bubbles up, and if you don&#8217;t do what you &#8216;should&#8217; do, you feel guilty, bad, feelings of failure surface. A no win situation, for sure!<br \/>\nWith regard to permanent fat removal, would it be fair to say that you may have at one time or another thought that you &#8216;should&#8217; lose weight? Or that you &#8216;must&#8217; reduce your size? Or that you &#8216;have to&#8217; exercise &#8230; really you &#8216;have to!&#8217;<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;m guessing that you are so annoyed with it all that you give up, that you go and eat a donut (or some other form of the devil&#8217;s food) to get you through the frustration or just to plain rebel.<br \/>\n<strong>Your Inner Rebel.<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you feel upset, bothered, aggravated or just plain peeved when the &#8216;should&#8217;s&#8217; start to<br \/>\ncome up, know that your inner rebel has been activated.<br \/>\nYou may now want to have a different kind of dialogue with yourself.
