Who won American Idol<\/strong>? Lee DeWyze was crowned the “American Idol,” beating the favored Crystal Bowersox, in a surprise result that shocked many.
\nLee DeWyze, a 24 year-old paint salesman from Chicago, struggled with his self-confidence throughout the season. He was shy, sometimes awkward and as Simon pointed out on numerous occasions, Lee needed to believe in himself.
\nLee DeWyze had all the ingredients for great success, all the resources to carry him toward his dream, but first and foremost he needed to believe in himself.
\nLate in the game, but nevertheless in time, during the semi-finals, Lee, brilliantly performed Leonard Cohen’s classic song “Hallelujah.” He opened up, he smiled, he turned the corner, and as he believed in himself, we began to believe with him.
\nIt is a great lesson illustrating, once again, how our minds dictate the results; how believe in ourselves opens us up to the limitless possibilities and wondrous twists and turns that life has to offer.
\nHere’s to the glorious possibilities and opportunities that are sure to show up in all of our lives today! May we rise to the occasion and seize them!
