But I\u2019ve just got to ask \u2026 are you? a food victim? no? are you sure???<\/p>\n<p>If you think that something or someone other than yourself is controlling your food choices and\/or controlling your eating \u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2026 Then, <strong>you are a food victim!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you believe that certain foods are simply irresistible, as in impossible to resist, no way, can\u2019t say \u201cno\u201d to that or that or even that, or that the Universe is conspiring against you, sabotaging your healthy living attempts at every turn on the road to Sveltesville, and that external circumstances hold power over you \u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2026 Then, <strong>you are a food victim!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In order for your permanent weight removal project to be fully, entirely and wholly (or holy) successful, then you must step away from and move out of <strong><em>\u201cfood victim mode.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may not realize that you have stepped into the victim role and have embraced it as fully as you have, but if you are <strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong> taking full responsibility, if you are <strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong> exercising your ability to create a healthy lifestyle; if you\u00a0 are allowing life to lead you down the path to donuts and other \u201cdeadly delights,\u201d then <strong><em>you have taken on this ineffectual and hopeless identity. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ask yourself \u2026 <strong><em>\u201cJust how much of a \u2018food victim\u2019 am I?\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>&#8220;We focus on the negatives, losing ourselves in the problem. We point to our unhappy circumstances to rationalize our negative feelings.\u00a0 This is the easy way out.\u00a0 It takes, after all, very little effort to feel victimized.&#8221; ~ Elizabeth Kubler-Ross<\/em><\/p>\n<p>No doubt fully embracing a healthy lifestyle takes time and effort. And true that you have a ridiculous amount of things to do, which you miraculously manage to squeeze into each and every day.\u00a0 And true that there are only 24 hours in the day. But, but \u2026 <strong><em>BIG BUTT<\/em><\/strong> \u2026 bottom line, if you want to lose those extra pounds <em>(and not find them again);<\/em> if you want to be healthy, then you need to take responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make ADJUSTMENTS!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>1.\u00a0 Adjust your expectations<\/em><\/strong>. In other words, get real \u2013 there are no quick fixes in life; no \u201cdiet fairy\u201d that is going to visit you in the middle of the night and scoop your pounds away.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/em>The more you pay attention to and <strong><em>adjust your thoughts<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>your beliefs<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>your language<\/em><\/strong>, the more successful you will be.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>3.\u00a0 Actions follow thoughts.<\/em><\/strong> The more negative your thoughts, the more belief systems that are in place that no longer work for you, the less likely you are to take the steps you need to move forward in weight loss or any other area in life. <em><strong>Pay attention to the words you speak as well as your inner language.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>4.\u00a0 It\u2019s UP to You!<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>The power is in your hands <\/em><\/strong>(literally), not in the food. No one else determines your choices, your priorities, or your values.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>5.\u00a0 You can make the \u201cbest choice.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>Perhaps, not the ideal or perfect choice sits in front of you, but a \u201cbest\u201d choice does.
