{"id":5436,"date":"2014-01-22T10:09:11","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T15:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=5436"},"modified":"2014-01-22T10:09:56","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T15:09:56","slug":"name-one-good-thing-a-step-by-step-guide-to-building-self-confidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2014\/01\/name-one-good-thing-a-step-by-step-guide-to-building-self-confidence.html","title":{"rendered":"Name One Good Thing:  A Step by Step Guide to Building Self-Confidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4181\" alt=\"Praying Hands\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2012\/10\/dog-OLof-Wine-Color-257x300.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"379\" \/>On a scale of 0 to 10, ten being the highest (zero being the lowest \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 duh) \u2026 <em><strong>How confident are you?\u00a0<\/strong> <\/em>How good do you feel about yourself?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives; in particular, permanent weight removal.\u00a0\u00a0 If we don\u2019t truly respect and have confidence in ourselves, we are more likely to head to the fridge and stuff those uncomfortable feelings down.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that self-confidence is yet another muscle to build up and build on.\u00a0\u00a0 It is simply a matter of focusing on all that you do well; all that is good about you.\u00a0\u00a0 When (not if) you follow my tips on How to Build Self-Confidence, you might be surprised to find out that there\u2019s a lot more fabulous in you than you thought!<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Build Your Self Confidence Muscle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Awareness First<\/b>:\u00a0 Start pumping your self-confidence muscle by recognizing and acknowledging all that you accomplish on a daily basis.\u00a0\u00a0 No matter how big or small.<\/p>\n<p><b>Confidence Diary<\/b>:\u00a0 Keep track of your daily accomplishments in a diary\/journey.\u00a0 Identify any goals that you may have reached, positive behaviors, positive feedback from others <i>(a.k.a. compliments), and <\/i>anything that you may have handled in a positive way!<\/p>\n<p><b>Carry Your Log With You<\/b>:\u00a0 Keep the daily log or diary on hand so that you can jot down your achievements\/accomplishments in the moment, rather than waiting and risk forgetting.<\/p>\n<p><b>Combine Diaries:<\/b>\u00a0 Between our gratitude journals, self-confidence logs, calorie counts, et al., we could be carrying around 20 pounds of journal books.\u00a0 Instead, combine all, keeping your pertinent information in one place.<\/p>\n<p><b>Start NOW:<\/b>\u00a0 Because NOW is the best time to start!\u00a0 What might you write in your self-confidence success log? \u00a0How about\u2026<i>\u201cI\u2019m thinking about keeping a self-confidence log. Wow! Great first step.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Break Your Arm:<\/b>\u00a0 My grandmother used to say, \u201cDon\u2019t break your arm patting yourself on the back.\u201d\u00a0 Sorry, Granny.\u00a0 Bad advice.\u00a0 Break your arm, every chance you get!<\/p>\n<p><b>The Important Thing\u2026 is that you: <\/b>\u00a0Note your accomplishments in some way, shape or form so that you give yourself the credit you deserve!
