is it cold enough for you?\u00a0 OMG!!!\u00a0 Just writing about it makes my fingers cold! \u00a0 Please know that we <i>(<b><a href=\"http:\/\/maildogmanager.com\/lptrack.html?OurLadyofWeightLoss::700::http:\/\/www.ourladyofweightloss.com\">Our Lady of Weight Loss<\/a><\/b>, me and my blooming amaryllis) <\/i>are sending warm thoughts, and a link to my <i><b>very funny video<\/b><\/i>, entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/maildogmanager.com\/lptrack.html?OurLadyofWeightLoss::700::http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mwzHo6gBIJ8\"><i><b>The Freeze Your Ass Off Diet<\/b><\/i>.<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0 Laughter warms the body and soul, and it is an oldie but goodie, for sure!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\">Speaking of oldies but goodies, just the other day when I was downtown at <i><b>The Incubator<\/b><\/i> <i>(formerly known as the art studio; renamed because I find that I think and incubate ideas when there like mad<\/i>), thumbing through a stack of vintage magazines, primarily from the 1960&#8217;s, looking for artful images that inspire, I came across an article from Good Housekeeping, September 1963 entitled:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><b><i>YOU &amp; YOUR DIET:\u00a0 All the News to Keep You Fit and Trim!<br \/>\nTen commandments to help you reduce successfully.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\">My first thoughts was, <i>&#8220;The more things change, the more they stay the same.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0 Well, actually my first thought was, <i>&#8220;Gee, I wonder of Dr. Oz read the same article before he wrote his gaggle of YOU books.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Then, I reviewed the ten commandments!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\">Bottom line, the basics of permanent weight loss have been out there for decades, and yet, we are still looking for a magic bullet.\u00a0 (<i>See my gallery piece for Beliefnet.com entitled, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/maildogmanager.com\/lptrack.html?OurLadyofWeightLoss::700::http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/Health\/Extreme-Food-Diets.aspx#\">Extreme Food Diets<\/a>.&#8221;<\/i> A fun, wise and utterly useful read.)\u00a0 So&#8230;without further ado&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\">Here, Good Housekeeping, giving it to you straight up; no playful wording, telling it like it is:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><b><i>Ten Commandments to Help You Reduce Successfully.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i><b>Only your own zeal to lose weight and your willingness to fight the temptation of good food will bring success in reducing.\u00a0 To help you stick to a rigid regiment, Good Housekeeping&#8217;s Bureau proposes these 10 commandments:<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>1.\u00a0 Be sure your diet is deficient in nothing but calories; all other essential must be in correct amounts and proportions.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>2.\u00a0 Avoid skipping meals.\u00a0 Overeating usually follows in the wake of hunger pangs.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>3.\u00a0 Deviate as little as possible from sound, normal eating habits.\u00a0 It will be lots easier to stay on your diet and not regain lost pounds.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>4.\u00a0 Eat a minimum of 1,200 calories a day (1,500 to 1,600 for people doing hard, physical work).\u00a0 This should allow for a weight loss of 1.5 to 2 pounds a week&#8211;fast enough when you consider how long it took to acquire unwanted pounds.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>5.\u00a0 Cut down overall, rather than eliminating or emphasizing any particular food.\u00a0 Remember a sound reducing diet is never freakish.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>6.\u00a0 Exercise daily&#8211;even if only a brisk walk.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>7.\u00a0 Eat slowly.\u00a0 Not only will you really taste and ejoy your food, but the stomach will have time to signal when you&#8217;ve had enough.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>8.\u00a0 Stay busy so boredom doesn&#8217;t tempt you to overeat.\u00a0 Evening hours can be a dieter&#8217;s downfall.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>9.\u00a0 Keep your lost weight lost&#8211;otherwise the job is only half done.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><i>10.\u00a0 Resign yourself&#8211;dieting may be forever.\u00a0 As you grow older, caloric demands decrease, so start now to review your eating habits.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\">Well, what do you think?\u00a0 What do you hear?
