{"id":5298,"date":"2013-11-22T11:28:05","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T16:28:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=5298"},"modified":"2013-11-22T11:28:05","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T16:28:05","slug":"eat-this-lose-weight-3-thanksgiving-sweet-potato-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2013\/11\/eat-this-lose-weight-3-thanksgiving-sweet-potato-recipes.html","title":{"rendered":"Eat This: Lose Weight &#8211; 3 Thanksgiving Sweet Potato Recipes!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4697\" alt=\"dysfunctional chef copy\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2013\/03\/dysfunctional-chef-copy-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>Tushkateers, Devotees of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.OurLadyofWeightLoss.com\" target=\"_blank\">Our Lady of Weight Loss<\/a>, and those who found their way on this page via divine intervention (whether they know it or not), dig it:\u00a0 Thanksgiving foods do not have to be dripping in sugar and fat.\u00a0 True, a concept that doesn&#8217;t seem to have found its way to many a holiday table, but nevertheless, the truth!\u00a0\u00a0 You do not have to gain weight on the biggest food day of the year!<\/p>\n<p>Here, from the Our Lady of Weight Loss kitchens, three (count &#8217;em&#8230;1 &#8211; 2 &#8211; 3) sweet potato recipes that are delicious, satisfying, overflowing with vitamins and minerals and perfect for your Thanksgiving side dishes!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baked Sweet Potato Fries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients:<\/em><br \/>\n2 medium sweet potatoes, scrubbed and dried<br \/>\n1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon salt, freshly ground<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon Hungarian paprika<\/p>\n<p><em>Directions:<\/em><br \/>\nPreheat oven to 425\u00b0 F.<br \/>\nSlice each sweet potato into really thin slices, then toss with oil, salt and Toss with oil, salt, and paprika. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until lightly browned on the bottom, depending on how thin they are anywhere from 8 minutes to 15 (more or less; don\u2019t hold me to it!). Turn slices over and brown the other side. About 8 to 15 minutes.<br \/>\nServe hot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scalloped Sweet Potatoes and Apples<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients:<\/em><br \/>\n4 medium sweet potatoes, precooked and sliced<br \/>\n3 medium-sized apples (tart is best), peeled and sliced<br \/>\n1\/3 cup butter<br \/>\n1\/3 cup sugar, organic<br \/>\nDash of salt<br \/>\n1\/4 cup hot water, but not boiling<\/p>\n<p><em>Directions:<\/em><br \/>\nPreheat oven to 375 degrees.<br \/>\nPlace a layer of potatoes, then apples on top and then sweet potatoes again and then apples in a shallow casserole dish! Get the idea?
