These cell membranes are less elastic, which can have negative effects on our heart.<\/p>\n<p>Omega-3 may:<br \/>\n&#8211; Improve heart health<br \/>\n&#8211; Lower cholesterol levels<br \/>\n&#8211; Improve insulin sensitivity<br \/>\n&#8211; Stabilize irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)<br \/>\n&#8211; Reduce blood pressure<br \/>\n&#8211; Reduce hypertension<br \/>\n&#8211; Improve rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Raynaud\u2019s disease and other auto-immune diseases<br \/>\n&#8211; Improve depression and symptoms of other mental health problems<br \/>\n&#8211; Aid cancer prevention and cancer support<\/p>\n<p><strong>How much Omega-3 does one need?<\/strong> There is no established recommended amount. The American Heart Association recommends that people include salmon or tuna in their diet at least twice a week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What foods are rich in Omega-3?<\/strong> Atlantic salmon, Atlantic and Pacific Herring, Sardines, Atlantic Halibut, Bluefish, Tuna, Atlantic Mackerel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you concerned about mercury levels in these fishes? <\/strong>If so, try getting Omega-3 from plant sources, such as: Canola oil, Flaxseed, Flaxseed oil, Walnuts, Leafy green vegetables.
