{"id":4985,"date":"2013-07-05T08:42:39","date_gmt":"2013-07-05T12:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=4985"},"modified":"2013-07-05T08:42:39","modified_gmt":"2013-07-05T12:42:39","slug":"eat-this-lose-weight-peach-parfait-delish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2013\/07\/eat-this-lose-weight-peach-parfait-delish.html","title":{"rendered":"Eat This: Lose Weight &#8211; Sweetly Satisfying Peach Parfait"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4986\" alt=\"Peaches\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2013\/07\/Peaches-300x225.jpg\" width=\"327\" height=\"245\" \/>Just in case you pigged out on the 4th of July and are feeling bloated, guilty&#8211;dare I say it&#8211;you&#8217;re feeling fat <em>(oh no, I didn&#8217;t!)<\/em>, then here is an amazingly sweet, delish dish <em>(healthy, too!)<\/em> that I serve for breakfast or lunch&#8211;sometimes, as dessert&#8211;that is likely to get you back on track, on the proverbial weight loss wagon and help you to lose weight!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>EAT THIS: LOSE WEIGHT\u00a0 (woo hoooooo)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Dishes from your Dysfunctional Chef that Delight the Satisfy as they Stir the Imagination<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Sweetly Satisfying Pleasing Peach Parfait<br \/>\ntwo servings \/ approx. 250 calories (non-scientific count)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients:<\/em><br \/>\n1 peach or nectarine, sliced nice<\/p>\n<p>1\/4 cup granola <em>(Here is the first of the tricky parts to the calorie count&#8211;depending on which granola you choose, whose count greatly varies!\u00a0 So&#8230;for goodness sake, Read. The. Label, already, would you!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup low fat natural, Greek yogurt.\u00a0 <em>(Again, depending on the yogurt, the calorie count can change, because the difference in calories from 0% to 2% to full fat is significant, soooo&#8230;repeat after me &#8220;Read. The. Label.&#8221;)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1 Tablespoon Jam (<em>Oh yes, here I go again!\u00a0 Low sugar vs. full sugar can be a 30 calorie or more difference.\u00a0 &#8220;Read. The. Label.&#8221; &#8212; Oh and by the way, I prefer low sugar jam to no sugar with artificial sweetener.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t much like the taste, but your taste buds and mine are not the same&#8211;obviously.\u00a0 Whatever you decide&#8211; &#8220;Read. The. Label.&#8221;)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1 Tablespoon Fruit Juice, freshly squeezed OJ works well!<\/p>\n<p><em>Instructions:\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nWith your wits about you, and sharp knife in hand, slice open the peach and remove the pit.\u00a0 Slice peach into thin slices or cube it, whatever you like!<\/p>\n<p><em>(Thinking that maybe you want to grow a peach tree with the pit?\u00a0 Maybe, and I mean maybe, if you plant the pit, a peach tree may grow.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s possible!\u00a0 And I love living in possibility!\u00a0 It takes a good (vs. bad) three years to grow enough to begin to produce fruit.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s likely that the fruit that grows on your tree will not resemble the peach that you buy in your market.\u00a0 Try it and be sure to let us know&#8211;three years from now&#8211;what happens!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After you ponder the possibilities of growing a tree from the pit&#8230;<br \/>\n&#8230;Divide the peach slices into two tall glasses or short ones, just make them there glasses aesthetically pleasing.\u00a0 Save a few slices to top your creation!<\/p>\n<p><em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/anthologyhouse.net\/?s=glasses&amp;imagesubmit.x=0&amp;imagesubmit.y=0\" target=\"_blank\">Anthology House<\/a> is one of my favorite places to shop for reasonably priced vintage goods. Bookmark them for sure and periodically check out their goods.\u00a0 Remember, shopping burns calories and keeps you out of the kitchen.\u00a0 And&#8211;OMG&#8211;getting packages delivered from the mailman makes me want to sing!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sprinkle the granola on top of the peaches.\u00a0 Again, warning!!!
