{"id":4303,"date":"2012-11-14T11:51:26","date_gmt":"2012-11-14T16:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=4303"},"modified":"2012-11-14T12:03:04","modified_gmt":"2012-11-14T17:03:04","slug":"the-truth-about-naturally-thin-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2012\/11\/the-truth-about-naturally-thin-people.html","title":{"rendered":"7 Truths about Naturally Thin People"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4304\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2012\/11\/OLofthe-NATURALLY-THIN-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>As we blast our way into the holiday season, people increasingly say to me, \u201c<strong>I wish I were naturally thin<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0 Then I could eat as many holiday cookies, drink as much eggnog and slide as many sliders down the hatch as I like, without worrying about the number on the scales of injustice, or how I look in my already tight jeans.\u201d (Punctuated by an audible sigh)<\/p>\n<p>People think that naturally thin people can eat whatever they want, without consequence.<\/p>\n<p>Is that true?\u00a0 Or, is it yet another \u201curban diet myth\u201d that needs to be put to rest?\u00a0 I set out to find out, collecting data in my own very scientific way.\u00a0 I dined with numerous naturally thin people, asked questions and observed!<\/p>\n<p>Here follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Seven Truths About Naturally Thin People<\/strong>\u00a0 <em><strong>(NTP)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Hog Wild? <\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Contrary to popular belief, NTP do not eat unlimited amounts of food.\u00a0 On the contrary, they pay attention to portion size.\u00a0 If a NTP eats more than one day, then they \u201cright\u201d themselves the next day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Scale?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP pay attention to the number on the scale and if their weight starts to escalate, they scale back.\u00a0 And (get this!), no matter the number, their mood remains in tact.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amnesia?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP do not suffer from food amnesia.\u00a0 They remember what they eat, which informs their next choices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restaurant Eating?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP tend to either order an appetizer for their main dish, or share the main dish, or take half of the main dish home.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yum Yum?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP enjoy food, one bite at a time.\u00a0 They are not preoccupied with the next bite, the next course or the next meal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stuffing?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP do not stuff down their emotions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sated?<\/strong>\u00a0 NTP eat until sated (not stuffed).\u00a0 When sated, they put down the fork and push away from the table.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The difference between you and a \u201cnaturally thin person\u201d has little if nothing to do with food.
