{"id":4168,"date":"2012-10-10T12:11:11","date_gmt":"2012-10-10T16:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=4168"},"modified":"2012-10-10T12:11:11","modified_gmt":"2012-10-10T16:11:11","slug":"kick-in-the-tush-club-6-motivational-steps-never-never-never-never-give-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2012\/10\/kick-in-the-tush-club-6-motivational-steps-never-never-never-never-give-up.html","title":{"rendered":"Kick in the Tush Club &#8211; 6 Motivational Steps: Never, Never, Never, Never Give Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #b22222\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2011\/11\/KICK-logo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-3040\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2011\/11\/KICK-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a>Never, never, never, never give up. ~ Winston Churchill<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,serif\"><span><strong>OMG Tushkateers! \u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>Of all days for my Internet connection to crash &#8211; on Kick in the Tush Tuesday &#8211; but that&#8217;s what happened yesterday and that&#8217;s where I was &#8230; in the Land of Lost Internet Connections!\u00a0 So, your weekly kick in the tush is a day late, but definitely not a dollar short (as the saying goes)!<\/p>\n<p>It is action-packed, oozing with good cheer, inspiration and <strong>motivation<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>And speaking of <strong>motivation<\/strong> &#8230; members of <a href=\"http:\/\/maildogmanager.com\/link.html?url=2089&amp;client=OurLadyofWeightLoss&amp;campaign=704&amp;email=janicetaylor@me.com\">a KICK in the TUSH Club \/ Facebook<\/a> were wondering <em>&#8220;where does motivation go?&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0 After all, who amongst us hasn\u2019t been gung-ho motivated, singing the happy inspiration song, and then seemingly out of nowhere our fizzle goes limp; leaving us with no snap, crackle or pop?<\/p>\n<p>Here follows 6 simple steps to reenergize your commitment to yourself, to re-motivation &#8230; so that you never, never, never, never give up! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>6 SIMPLE STEPS to &#8230; NEVER GIVING UP!!!<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0 What\u2019s Your Motive<\/strong>; <strong>Your<\/strong> <strong>Reason(s) to Act<\/strong>?\u00a0 Before you can be motivated, you need to get clear on your motives, your reasons to act.<\/p>\n<p>Ask yourself, <em>\u201cWhat will losing weight give me that I would not otherwise have?\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>Hint:\u00a0 These reasons, these motives have all to do with you and nothing to do with other people.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, if you say that losing weight will mysteriously manifest the partner of your dreams or the best job ever, scratch it off your list.\u00a0 This happening is strictly for and about you.<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What are your reasons to act?\u00a0 Are you excited to get going?\u00a0 If not excited, revisit your reasons.<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0 Set a Non-Number Goal<\/strong>:\u00a0 Instead of declaring that your goal is to lose 30 pounds by Christmas (good luck on that one!), how about saying,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy goal is to eat 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMy goal is to walk for a minimum of 15 minutes per day.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMy goal is to de-clutter my office for a minimum of 10 minutes per day.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMy goal is to lose enough weight to find my waist!\u201d<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What goals have you set for yourself that are doable? Are they measurable?\u00a0 To whom are you accountable (other than yourself)?<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0 Circle of Support<\/strong>: Support systems are a vital part of our lives and permanent weight loss efforts. \u00a0Your \u2018Circle of Support\u2019 can include family members, friends, mental health professionals, health care providers, co-workers, teachers, leaders; basically people you can trust, who can help you, to whom you can go for counsel.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Who is in your Circle of Support?<\/em><\/strong> <em>\u00a0\u00a0Feel free to join Our Lady of Weight Loss\u2019s <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/maildogmanager.com\/link.html?url=2089&amp;client=OurLadyofWeightLoss&amp;campaign=704&amp;email=janicetaylor@me.com\">KICK in the TUSH Club \/ Facebook<\/a> !<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0 Action<\/strong>:\u00a0 Now that you have defined your reasons to let go of your excess weight (in all permutations \u2026 from body weight to mental clutter), you have set goals that are without question reasonable and doable, and you have created a Circle of Support overflowing with positive people, you are ready to take action!<\/p>\n<p>Permanently letting go of your excess weight is an action-oriented process.\u00a0 Actions such as stocking your house with the right foods, removing all the trigger foods, preparing your meals, etc.<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Make a list of the actions you need to take to reach your goals!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuy fruits and vegetables.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cClean out fridge and pantry of trigger foods.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cListen to my 2-minute meditations* that my coach, Janice Taylor, created just for me.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cCreate a vision board.\u201d<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Now ask yourself, \u201cWhen will I take these actions?\u201d Get your calendar out and schedule your actions.\u00a0 Chances are that they won\u2019t happen if you do not schedule them!<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0 Fall Down 7 Times, Get Up 8<\/strong>:\u00a0 If you fall off the weight loss wagon, get up, dust yourself off, and ask yourself, \u201cWhat knocked my goal out of sight?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a ridiculously busy two days at work and lost sight of everything.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI had a cold and it knocked me on my tush.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI broke up with my boyfriend and my mind went haywire.\u201d<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What knocked you down, what knocked your goals out of sight is in the past now. Re-energize, re-commit, reread your notes from points 1-4.\u00a0 Voila, you are re-motivated!<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.\u00a0 Motivation Is a Daily Happening<\/strong>:\u00a0 You don&#8217;t wake up in the morning and say, &#8220;Gee, I washed yesterday; do I really need to again?&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 Motivate daily by reading inspiring quotes, positive passages from your favorite books, remembering your goals, your motives, and by reaching out to others!
