I am peachy keen &#8230; still in Tucson; soaking in as much of the sunny, happy cottontail vibes as possible.\u00a0 Yes, that&#8217;s right!\u00a0 There are cottontail rabbits hoppin&#8217; about, as well as king snakes, lizards, coyotes, bob cats, and birds galore.\u00a0 A roadrunner was tappin&#8217; on my front window the other morning!\u00a0\u00a0 Can you imagine???\u00a0 Nature everywhere!\u00a0 This CityGrrl is in serious awe!<\/p>\n<p>It is an extreme pleasure to work while here.\u00a0 Yes! I can and do sit in the back courtyard reading, writing and answering emails from y&#8217;all!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s one from <em>&#8216;BD&#8217; <\/em>that I am sure many of us can relate to!<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000cd\"><strong>CHEWING the FAT with OUR LADY of WEIGHT LOSS<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hi Janice (a.k.a. OLofWL),<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 I am Type II diabetic and overweight.<strong> <\/strong> I now weigh 187 lbs.\u00a0 <strong>I can\u2019t<\/strong> stick to any diet. <strong>I cannot<\/strong> stay motivated. Please help me because I am beginning to mentally feel real bad. <em><strong>~ BD<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em><strong>Dear BD ~<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 Many thanks for your email.\u00a0 It takes courage to reach out and seek support.\u00a0 It takes courage to tell your truth.\u00a0 So &#8230; with your permission, if I may, I&#8217;d like to share a few &#8216;hard core&#8217; <em><strong>permanent weight loss points of lite<\/strong><\/em> that CAN help YOU to change your mind, which will lead to change your weight!\u00a0 In other words, it starts and ends in the mind!!!<\/p>\n<p># 1:\u00a0 <strong>Self-Talk: Change Your Language!<\/strong><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s not that you <em><strong>&#8220;can&#8217;t stick to any diet.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 It&#8217;s that you either <em><strong>&#8220;don&#8217;t know how to stick to a diet&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; or you <em><strong>&#8220;don&#8217;t want to stick to a diet&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; or you &#8220;<em><strong>haven&#8217;t fully explored the possibilities of healthy living&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> &#8230; but it&#8217;s not that you cannot.\u00a0 <em><strong>You can!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>#2: <strong>Motivate Daily!<\/strong><br \/>\nI think motivation is one of those things that people have across the board gotten &#8216;wrong.&#8217;\u00a0 We don&#8217;t magically stay motivated, just as we don&#8217;t magically stay clean.\u00a0 You shower daily, no???\u00a0 We re-motivate, recommit to living, recommit to showing up fully, recommit to focusing on our health every day, sometimes a few times throughout the day!\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a conscious effort.\u00a0 Not feeling motivated?\u00a0 Well, then, look yourself in the mirror, give yourself a kick in the tush and say,<em><strong> &#8220;I CAN!!!&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>#3: <strong>Mental Shift<\/strong>!<br \/>\nCertainly, by reading the above two points of permanent weight loss, your mental map has started to shift.\u00a0 Right now write down one or two big or small insights that are surfacing. How might you approach &#8216;permanent weight removal&#8217; from a new perspective?\u00a0 Seriously, write them down, lest your insights evaporate into the ethers and you forget.\u00a0 We think we will remember, but more oft than not, we forget.\u00a0 <em><strong>Note your insights!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>#4:\u00a0 <strong>Diabetes!<\/strong><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a serious disease that can often be managed by diet and exercise.\u00a0 I know people &#8211; friends, family and tushkateers alike who are either diabetic or prediabetic and still &#8211; they are not taking &#8216;diabetes&#8217; seriously.\u00a0 I get that &#8216;health&#8217; is often an abstract thing and my mind\/your mind doesn&#8217;t want to wrap itself around it, but &#8211; again &#8211; diabetes has serious effects on your body.\u00a0 If you have it and are ignoring it, then may I ask &#8230; <em><strong>what are you waiting for &#8211; to compromise your eyesight with glaucoma, cataracts? Gum disease? Skin problems? Slow healing?<\/strong><\/em> and more!<\/p>\n<p><strong>#5:\u00a0 Food!<\/strong><br \/>\nWhat&#8217;s your plan?
