{"id":3708,"date":"2012-05-25T16:20:09","date_gmt":"2012-05-25T20:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/?p=3708"},"modified":"2012-05-25T16:20:09","modified_gmt":"2012-05-25T20:20:09","slug":"dysfunctional-chef-super-pow-slimming-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/ourladyofweightloss\/2012\/05\/dysfunctional-chef-super-pow-slimming-breakfast.html","title":{"rendered":"Dysfunctional Chef: Super Pow Slimming Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_3110\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3110\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/ourladyofweightloss\/files\/2011\/12\/dysfunctional-chef.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3110\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/100\/2011\/12\/dysfunctional-chef-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3110\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A 5 YUM Dish!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Did you hear about <strong><em>Edamame and Weight Loss<\/em><\/strong>?\u00a0 Going steadily together, researchers tell us that edamame (a.k.a. soy beans) which supplies a full 17 g of protein per cup, is a <strong><em>Super Duper POW Slimming Food<\/em><\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Reports from the Federal University of Vicosa indicate that those who protein for their morning meal, burn about 70 more calories per day than those who fill up on carbs and fat!<\/p>\n<p>Here follows a healthy \u2018breakfast burner.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edamame-Spinach Scramble a.k.a. the Breakfast Burner<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 large eggs or 4 egg whites<br \/>\n1 tablespoon 2% milk<br \/>\n1 teaspoon olive oil<br \/>\n2 cups fresh raw spinach leaves, loosely packed<br \/>\n1\/4 cup shelled edamame, frozen or thawed<br \/>\n1\/8 cup red pepper, chopped<br \/>\n1\/4 cup shallots chopped<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic, minced<br \/>\n1\/3 cup feta cheese, crumbled<br \/>\n1 medium tomato, chopped<br \/>\n2 teaspoons fresh basil, chopped<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\n<strong>INSTRUCTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whisk eggs and milk.\u00a0 Set aside.<br \/>\nIn nonstick medium frying pan, add olive oil.\u00a0 Set to medium heat.<br \/>\nWhen hot, add spinach, edamame, red pepper, shallot, and garlic.<br \/>\nSaut\u00e9 until spinach shrinks down and shallot is brown.\u00a0 (Just a few minutes.)
