Perhaps, the 2012 \u2018end of the world\u2019 predictions aren\u2019t so far off!\u00a0 After all, Dealbook reported that Hostess Brands, founded in 1930, home of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos filed for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n

Does that mean that Twinkies will be no more?<\/p>\n

The Twinkie, a spongy, cream-filled cake that we\u2019ve grown to know so well, can\u2019t expire!\u00a0 Not according to Urban Legend anyway, who insists that its long list of preservatives will keep it fresh and tasty into infinity and beyond.<\/p>\n

My first reaction upon hearing this news was an audible \u201cOh No.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere did that<\/em> come from?\u201d I wondered.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, it surfaced from my inner-chubby child, who, back in the day spent many an afternoon squirreled under the weeping willow, away from onlookers, carefully separating the golden cake of the Twinkie from its creamy center.\u00a0 Thoroughly enjoying one part and then the other; back n\u2019 forth until it was no more.<\/p>\n
