A simple sweater will do ya&#8217;. The leaves are turning unbelievably beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red, and pumpkins are beginning to pop up in front of buildings and in people&#8217;s windows.\u00a0 Love it!!!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What makes you happy?<\/strong>\u00a0 I have to tell you that being HAPPY about something (anything!); focusing your attention on things that make you smile is a HUGE part of permanent weight removal!\u00a0 Your success formula is 80% attitude\/20% food.\u00a0 In fact, &#8216;happy&#8217; is my advice for T.<\/p>\n<p><em>T., Tushkateer extraordinaire, writes,<\/em> &#8220;Of course, when I decide it&#8217;s time for a lifestyle change, I just eat more. I have caught myself on numerous occasions sitting down in the evening with a glass of milk and 6 cookies. I don&#8217;t want to diet just to lose it and gain it back again.<\/p>\n<p>I am so sick of trying to buy clothes. I am embarrassed that I am so fat. I am 4&#8217;11 and weigh 277#&#8217;s. I can hardly zip my jeans, I have to special order bras.\u00a0 I sweat constantly, so I feel like I stink.\u00a0 There is so much I need to change, but I can&#8217;t be a failure again.<\/p>\n<p>I am 52, the same age my father was when he had his first heart attack. I have thought about surgery but we both know if you eat like a fat person after you get it done then you&#8217;ll just gain weight again. I guess my question is where do I start and more importantly how. <em>Thank you, T.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dear T.,<\/em> First, I want to thank you for putting it on the page!\u00a0 Telling your truth; not sugar-coating it- not throwing a &#8216;happy blanket&#8217; on top of a basement of misery. You are where you are (can only be where you are) and that&#8217;s where you are going to start.<\/p>\n<p>First step for you:\u00a0 Each and every day make note (as in write down in journal\/on paper) of your best 5 moments.\u00a0 This is NOT a gratitude journal.\u00a0 BEST moments aren&#8217;t necessarily the greatest moments of your life; they are simply the best for the day.\u00a0 On a stressful day, perhaps my BEST moment is climbing into bed, and saying, &#8220;Ahhhhh! clean sheets.&#8221;\u00a0 We&#8217;re just making note of the BEST moments.\u00a0 5 of them.\u00a0 Why 5?\u00a0 Because &#8211; negative thoughts are sticky.\u00a0 Positive thoughts not so sticky.\u00a0 They have a Teflon quality to them.\u00a0 By &#8216;looking for&#8217; best moments, you will train your mind to see the positive in life.\u00a0 You will begin to feel good about life and yourself.\u00a0 Feeling good about your life and yourself is weigh important, isn&#8217;t it?!<\/p>\n<p>Write down 5 BEST moments every day (at night is good; review the day scanning for best moments).\u00a0 Do it today, tomorrow, for the week, for the month, for the year &#8230; and see what miracles can present themselves!
