The job ends.<\/p>\n

The lover leaves.<\/p>\n

The committee votes no.<\/p>\n

The last child leaves home.<\/p>\n

The medical test comes back positive.<\/p>\n

The path we thought<\/em> we were on ends. In his classic, Transitions: making sense of life\u2019s changes<\/em>, William Bridges says transition has 3 stages:<\/p>\n

1) Endings,<\/p>\n

2) The Neutral Zone and<\/p>\n

3) New beginnings.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the Neutral Zone that is so torturous. We are<\/p>\n

Confused<\/p>\n

Disappointed<\/p>\n

Grieving<\/p>\n

Rejected<\/p>\n

Lost<\/p>\n

and want to get out of this zone as soon as possible!<\/p>\n

According to Bridges, however, we need to \u201cget into\u201d this zone in order to discover New Beginnings truly authentic for us. One of his wise instructions is to use this time to find out what we really want.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So hard!\u00a0 When the past has ended and we can\u2019t envision the future, we are tempted to seek only the quickest and best imitation of the past we can find.<\/p>\n

But transition has something to teach us–about ourselves. Consider this:<\/p>\n

What we truly desire coincides with what God desires for us and what He has given us the potential to become. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>God waits, ready to enable our becoming.<\/p>\n

What do you want?<\/strong><\/p>\n
