According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/10\/09\/AR2009100900914.html?hpid=topnews\">Washington Post<\/a>, the award was given <i>&#8220;<\/i>for his work to improve international diplomacy and rid the world of<br \/>\nnuclear weapons &#8212; a stunning decision to celebrate a figure virtually<br \/>\nunknown in the world before he launched his campaign for the White<br \/>\nHouse nearly three years ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is pretty amazing news. Obama is the third sitting U.S. president to win the prize, the first in 90 years. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Woodrow_Wilson\">Woodrow Wilson<\/a> won in 1919 for helping to found the League of Nations.
