Maybe we should help him find a new one.<\/p>\n<p>As the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/doc\/20091012\/lerner2\">Senate Finance Committee<\/a> debated the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dBi8A_HutII\">Public Option<\/a>&#8216;s inclusion in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opencongress.org\/bill\/111-h3200\/show\">Health Care Reform Bill <\/a>yesterday, this line caught me in a WTF? moment to remember. &#8220;Government is not a fair competitor,&#8221; Republican Senator <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chuck_Grassley\">Charles Grassley<\/a> of Iowa said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a <strong>predator<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Did Mr. Grassley just call himself a predator? I mean, this is a <a href=\"http:\/\/goremasternews.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/predator-new1.jpg\">Predator<\/a>. Clearly, Chuck has quite negative views on what government is. Why would somebody want to work in the government holding those views? And why would the people of Iowa vote for someone who would say such a thing? Sort of like supporting an arsonist to become Chief of the Fire Department, don&#8217;t you think?<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nBy the way the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dBi8A_HutII\">Public Option<\/a>, which would simply give everyone more choice in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=113284042&amp;ft=1&amp;f=1027\">health care coverage<\/a>, is far from dead. The <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/news\/60899-liberals-survey-support-for-public-option\">House Health Care Bill<\/a><br \/>\nis pretty sure to have it included, and public opinion is still very<br \/>\nmuch for a public option (you know, like almost every other country in<br \/>\nthe industrialized world has). But I don&#8217;t think we&#8217;ll make much<br \/>\nprogress until we get deeper at this strange wrong view that Government<br \/>\nis Bad. Government is Us, Mr. Grassley. You and me. Nothing more or<br \/>\nless. I am not a predator, sir. Nor are the people of Iowa who elected<br \/>\nyou.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"government_is_good.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/124\/import\/government_is_good.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 20px 20px;float: right\" height=\"84\" width=\"127\" \/><\/span>Check out this interesting website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governmentisgood.com\/articles.php?aid=1\">Government is Good<\/a>.<br \/>\nGovernment is basically good, when held accountable. In democracy,<br \/>\nGovernment is interdependent citizens deciding what to do together. Why<br \/>\ndoes Chuck Grassley hate his job so much? And if he does, shouldn&#8217;t the<br \/>\npeople of Iowa interdependently decide to be governed by someone<br \/>\nwho&#8230;you know&#8230;likes government? Or could he at least give up his<br \/>\ninsurance which he gets from the&#8230;um&#8230;government (!), and see how 50<br \/>\nmillion Americans live, needlessly?<\/p>\n<p>Government is basically good, and basically us.
