His book was given to me by Senator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneiderman.org\/\">Eric Schneiderman<\/a>, recently honored as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneiderman.org\/show.php?page=issues&amp;id=248&amp;PHPSESSID=0146d9b261f6f93e50558cf6844179c8\">Greenest Senator<\/a> in the New York State Government (who also practices <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yogajournal.com\/\">yoga<\/a> and mindfulness <a href=\"http:\/\/theidproject.org\/\">meditation<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"alltognow9gp.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/124\/import\/alltognow9gp.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 20px 20px;float: right\" height=\"612\" width=\"396\" \/><\/span>  <\/p>\n<div>&#8220;I once heard an allegory about mealtime in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpjs.co.uk\/white\/chopsticks.html\">heaven and hell<\/a>. It turns out that in both places, meals are served at a huge round table with lots of delicious food in the center. The food is out of reach, but everyone&#8217;s got really long forks. <\/p>\n<p>In hell, everyone starves because, while people can reach the food with their forks, the forks are much longer than their arms, so nobody can turn a fork around and eat what&#8217;s on the end of it.<\/p>\n<p>In heaven, faced with the same problem, people eat well. How?<\/p>\n<p>By feeding each other.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n&#8220;Protecting the rights of individuals has always been a core American<br \/>\nvalue. Yet in recent years the emphasis on individualism has been<br \/>\npushed to the point where, like diners in hell, we&#8217;re starving.
