David Nichtern<\/a>, who wrote “Midnight at the Oasis”<\/a>, and who is also is a former student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche<\/a>, stopped by the ID Project a couple of weeks ago to speak about “The Role of the Teacher on the Spiritual Path”.   His 30+ years of teaching Meditation Instruction and Buddhist Philosophy provided insight into the importance of the Student\/ Teacher relationship in the Mahayana tradition.<\/p>\n

He also laid on us some great simple meditation instructions…<\/p>\n

1. Take your seat
2. Place your attention to our own unmanipulated breathing.
3. When you notice that your awareness has drifted away – Label it “thinking” and bring your attention back to the breath.<\/p>\n
