For my responsible consumption month pledge<\/a>, I am not using any take-out beverages – soda, water, coffee, etc…
\nI have found my reusable aluminum bottle to be one of the best purchases I have made so that I can have tap water with me at all times. However, no impact man<\/a> has shown that there are alternatives to buying something new:

\n\u2022 Plastic bottle production in the United States annually requires about 17.6 million barrels of oil.
\n\u2022 Worldwide bottling of water uses about 2.7 million tons of plastic each year.
\n\u2022 Tap water costs about $0.002 per gallon compared to the $0.89 to $8.26 per gallon charged for bottled water.
\n\u2022 As much as 40% of bottled water actually comes from the tap, which means bottled water consumers are paying hundreds or thousands of times more for an illusion of purity.
\n\u2022 The federal government requires far more rigorous and frequent safety testing and monitoring of municipal drinking water than of bottled water
