A BUJU (or JUBU) is someone of Jewish decent (cultural or religious) who has a serious interest in, has converted to, or practices Buddhism. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myjewishlearning.com\/history_community\/Jewish_World_Today\/ContemporaryInterfaith\/JewishBuddhist.htm\">MyJewishLearning.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Charles      T. Strauss was the first Jew to be converted to Buddhism on American soil.      The date was September 26, 1893.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Two      Jews, Sam Bercholz and Michael Fagan, started Shambhala Publications in      1969 in Berkeley, California, where they owned a metaphysical bookstore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">David Ben-Gurion<a href=\"showILG('Ben-Gurion.htm');\"><\/a>, Israel&#8217;s      first prime minister, was a serious student of Buddhist meditation      techniques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Jews and      Buddhists have no recorded history of conflict<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Chogyam      Trunpa said so many of his students were Jews that they formed the Oy Vey school of Buddhism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">To all my fellow JUBUs and BUJUs out there, Happy Hanukkah!<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GZUgr1zh878\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GZUgr1zh878<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In honor of Hanukkah, here are some fun facts about BUJUs!
