Wrong lady on new stamp<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The U.S. Postal Service thought it had a great new stamp. The Las Vegas\u00a0is thrilled.\u00a0A new First Class stamp just released doesn’t feature the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Instead, it pictures a fiberglass replica out in front of a casino on Sin City’s main strip.<\/div>\n
“You might think that the post office would have just gone with the original,”\u00a0report Kim Severson and Matthew Healey in today’s New York Times,<\/em> “the one that for 125 years has welcomed millions of the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Instead, the postal service accidentally used the 14-year-old statue that presides over thousands of weary gamblers a week.”<\/div>\n

Linn’s Stamp News,<\/em> the authority among die-hard philatelists, broke the story last week.<\/div>\n
The post office is embarrassed, but will not recall the stamp, according to the New York Post<\/em>.<\/div>\n

“We still love the stamp design and would have selected this photograph anyway,” Postal Service spokesman Roy Betts told New York<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

So, what’s the difference between the two ladies?<\/p>\n
