Sure, our Bibles occasionally have illustrations, but it&#8217;s of the passive, gauzy, Jesus-holding-a-near-comatose-lamb variety. And Jesus always has pretty blow-dried hair. Where is the violence? Where&#8217;s the smiting? Where&#8217;s all the demon-slaying? What my faith was lacking is some edgy art.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themangabible.com\/images\/ecard_thumb.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px;float: right;cursor: pointer;width: 200px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themangabible.com\/images\/ecard_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Well, not any more. Because now I can read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themangabible.com\/\">The Manga Bible<\/a><span style=\"font-style: italic\">,<\/span>  which brings &#8220;a whole new dimension to the most important book in history.&#8221; Apparently, in this whole new dimension, Jesus has the stringy hair of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eddie_Vedder\">Eddie Vedder<\/a> (about two hours into a Pearl Jam concert), the gaunt pallor of a heroin addict, and a skinny-but-ripped physique.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, my prayers have been answered.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/news\/arts\/the-messiah-as-superhero\/2008\/01\/04\/1198950049016.html\">Here&#8217;s a good article about <span style=\"font-style: italic\">The Manga Bible<\/span> and the whole Bible-repackaging biz<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Christianity really needs, I&#8217;ve been thinking, is a version of the Bible that&#8217;s way more manga than your typical no-pictures, text-only Bible translations.
