{"id":307,"date":"2008-11-18T06:25:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-18T06:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/omeoflittlefaith\/2008\/11\/blue-like-jazz-the-movie.html"},"modified":"2008-11-18T06:25:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-18T06:25:00","slug":"blue-like-jazz-the-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/omeoflittlefaith\/2008\/11\/blue-like-jazz-the-movie.html","title":{"rendered":"Blue Like Jazz: The Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 153, 0);\">The fact that Steve Taylor and Don Miller <\/span>have written a screenplay and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluelikejazzthemovie.com\/\">are hoping to put together a film<\/a> based on Don&#8217;s book <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Blue Like Jazz<\/span> &#8212; perhaps you&#8217;ve heard of it &#8212; isn&#8217;t exactly big news.<\/p>\n<p>But they&#8217;ve recently released a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2rXzSMZsO-4\">YouTube video<\/a> discussing the project, and it is a fine example of how to make a cheap, entertaining, self-deprecating promotional video without it coming across as totally self-serving (which it is, as are all promotional videos). The cutaway shots are genius. Mad props to Taylor for this.<\/p>\n<p>(No props to me for using the phrase &#8220;mad props.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I thought you&#8217;d enjoy it. It&#8217;s fun <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">and<\/span> informational.<\/p>\n<p><object height=\"344\" width=\"425\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/2rXzSMZsO-4&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/2rXzSMZsO-4&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" height=\"344\" width=\"425\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>For those of you who have read the book, what are your thoughts about a potential film version? Worried? Excited?
