Yesterday’s quiz <\/span>was an exceedingly tricky one, I’ll admit.<\/span> I even got confused a time or two and had to go back and check my notes and\/or Google. Anyway, here are the answers, along with additional information or context.<\/p>\n

Answer: Death Metal. <\/span>These are lyrics from the Profugus Mortis song “Last Pain.”<\/p>\n

the fire is made ready<\/span>
<\/span>the furnace is now hot<\/span>

Answer: Edwards. <\/span>Context from the sermon: “The wrath of God burns against them, their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared, the fire is made ready, the furnace is now hot, ready to receive them; the flames do now rage and glow. The glittering sword is whet, and held over them, and the pit hath opened its mouth under them.”<\/p>\n

Answer: Death Metal. <\/span>It totally sounds like something a preacher (or the Apostle Paul) might say, but these are lyrics from the Profugus Mortis song “The Darkest Hour.” Tricky!<\/p>\n

God has so many different unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending them to hell, that there is nothing to make it appear, that God had need to be at the expense of a miracle, or go out of the ordinary course of his providence, to destroy any wicked man, at any moment.<\/p>\n

The wrath of Almighty God is now undoubtedly hanging over a great part of this congregation. Let every one fly out of Sodom: ‘Haste and escape for your lives, look not behind you, escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed.’ “<\/p>\n

the heart is now a sink of sin<\/span>
so if sin was not restrained<\/span>
it would immediately
turn <\/span> the soul into a fiery oven<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer: Edwards. <\/span>The corruption of the heart of man is immoderate and boundless in its fury; and while wicked men live here, it is like fire pent up by God’s restraints, whereas if it were let loose, it would set on fire the course of nature; and as the heart is now a sink of sin, so if sin was not restrained, it would immediately turn the soul into fiery oven, or a furnace of fire and brimstone.<\/p>\n

Sidenote:<\/span> If I were a kitchen remodeler, I would probably say no if a homeowner asked me to install a sink of sin.<\/p>\n
