Some wars are fought for peace. America fought World War II not to conquer any territory, but to maintain the peace and freedom of the entire world. You can fight a war to maintain peace.

Your mind, your heart, your soul is a raging battlefield. The enemy wants to steal your joy, kill your contentment, and destroy your peace of mind. If you want to experience peace, you’re going to have to fight for it. And this isn’t a one-time battle. It’s a long-term war, a war of attrition.
