The following is a devotion from my message series\u00a010 Steps to Freedom<\/a>. I hope these devotionals help you experience lasting freedom in Jesus!<\/em><\/p>\n

STEP SEVEN: day 4<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Fully engage in\u00a0worship<\/strong>\u00a0to strengthen your soul<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

If the Father is searching for worshipers who worship in spirit in truth, what exactly does that look like? How do we do more than just sing but actually begin to worship in a way that strengthens our souls?<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Make a joyful noise! <\/b>As obvious as it sounds, worship starts by you actually singing. You may not consider yourself to be a good singer. It\u2019s not about the quality of the notes but the attitude of the heart. But you do have to sing!<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Move!<\/b> Your physical posture doesn\u2019t automatically dictate the inner position of worship, but it can help point your heart in the right direction. Raising your hands, kneeling and other forms of movement are tools to point your heart to God in worship.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Get emotional. <\/b>Your emotions are a valid and vital part of your being. Although emotions cannot dictate your actions, neither should they be ignored. Don\u2019t be afraid to engage your emotions and get emotional.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Keep it biblical.<\/b> It\u2019s not enough to sing with emotion. You have to worship in spirit and<\/i> truth. Make sure that what you are singing (since you\u2019re preaching to yourself) lines up with the ultimate standard of truth: Scripture.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Sing together.<\/b> Singing is something you can do not just on your own but together with other believers. An incredible way to do life together (step six) is to worship together in a corporate setting, most likely a worship service.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Sing like you just don\u2019t care.<\/b> Singing with others tends to intimidate and stifle our own confidence, but we must learn to overcome that and worship God, not caring what others think (2 Sam. 6:14). God is our audience, not man.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Seek God, not an experience.<\/b> The goal of worship is not an ecstatic emotional experience but the presence of God, which strengthens our souls. <\/span><\/p>\n

  2. Is there a church near you where you can engage in corporate worship?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
