Craig is a professor of religion at Virginia Wesleyan,&#8221; writes the LaFee. &#8220;They calculated the growth in Biblical proportions by comparing food on the table to the one constant in all of the paintings: the size of the apostles&#8217; heads.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They considered\u00a0Last Supper paintings painted by such masters as Duccio di Buoninsegna (c. 1260-c. 1319), Tiziano Vecellio, better known as\u00a0&#8220;Titian&#8221;\u00a0(c. 1490-1576) and Leo\u00adn\u00adardo da Vin\u00adci (1452-1519) &#8212; a total of 52 paintings.<\/p>\n<p>They found that\u00a0over the years, the\u00a0por\u00adtion sizes grew by 69 per\u00adcent, plate sizes\u00a0increased by 66 per\u00adcent and the size of the bread\u00a0grew by 23 per\u00adcent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think peo\u00adple as\u00adsume that in\u00adcreased serv\u00ading sizes, or \u2018por\u00adtion dis\u00adtor\u00adtion,\u2019 is a re\u00adcent phe\u00adnomenon,\u201d\u00a0wrote Bri\u00adan Wan\u00adsink. \u201cBut this re\u00adsearch in\u00addi\u00adcates that it\u2019s a gen\u00ader\u00adal trend for at least the last mil\u00adlen\u00adni\u00adum.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\u00a0<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A study of historic paintings of the Last Supper show that Jesus and the Disciples were served healthy portions &#8230; at least at first.
