A time of prayer at a Christian outreach event Saturday at Dodger Stadium will likely be the largest gathering in the nation to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9\/11 attacks in the U.S., said evangelist Greg Laurie. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg\u2019s decision to exclude any prayers from clergy at ground zero in Sunday\u2019s official ceremony has been met with criticism from many Christian leaders, including Laurie.<\/p>\n
Laurie, the pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., told the Christian Post<\/em> that prayer continues to be part of the nation\u2019s fabric, even 10 years after the tragedy.<\/p>\n \u201cThere has been a lot controversy over the fact that there are no clergymen or prayer planned for the official remembrance ceremony at Ground Zero on 9\/11. I believe that is wrong, since faith has played such a key role in America in the aftermath of this horrific tragedy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The event will include a virtual candlelight vigil, an invitation to come onto the field and accept Jesus Christ and a prayer in commemoration of 9\/11.<\/p>\n \u201cDespite the fact that there will be no prayer at ground zero in NYC, know that there will be prayer in LA at Dodger stadium,\u201d Laurie said.<\/p>\n The event is being hosted by more than 340 churches throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding area, organizers said.
