{"id":4474,"date":"2011-08-03T13:34:21","date_gmt":"2011-08-03T17:34:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/news\/?p=4474"},"modified":"2011-08-01T20:54:25","modified_gmt":"2011-08-02T00:54:25","slug":"southern-baptist-chides-herman-cain-muslims-have-rights-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/news\/2011\/08\/southern-baptist-chides-herman-cain-muslims-have-rights-too","title":{"rendered":"Southern Baptist chides Herman Cain: Muslims have rights, too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on C-SPAN, Southern Baptist leader Dr. Richard Land chided presidential candidate Herman Cain for disregarding the constitutional rights of U.S. Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Land reminded Cain that as a Christian and an African-American,\u00a0Cain should have a special interest in the enforcement of the constitution in all communities, not just approving ones.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention&#8217;s Ethics &amp; Religious Liberty Commission, addressed the businessman turned presidential candidate in a Monday broadcast saying, &#8220;Don&#8217;t throw out the baby with the bath, Mr. Cain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cain is also an associate pastor\u00a0at a Baptist.
