The Holy See\u2019s newspaper, L\u2019Osservatore Romano,<\/em> opines that its high time the news media to adopt what His Holiness has termed \u201cinfo-ethics.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I heartily agree,” writes Mims,\u00a0“as a veteran journalist who has watched my profession\u2019s once-unassailable dedication to balance and fairness shredded over the years.<\/p>\n

“But let\u2019s also be brutally honest: We are in a time when what is covered, and how it is covered is increasingly determined not by news value but the number of \u201chits\u201d or \u201cpage views\u201d a story might get on the Web …”<\/p>\n
