A protester wearing devil horns and holding a crucifix tore pages from a Bible outside New York City Hall during demonstrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n

Video clips<\/a> circulating on social media showed the person, described in reports as a transgender performance artist, dressed in women’s lingerie while opening a Bible, commenting on its weight and then ripping out pages and tossing them to the ground. Police officers could be seen standing nearby during the display.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred during a counter-protest organized in response to a separate anti-Islam demonstration at the same location.<\/p>\n

At one point, the protester began reading aloud from Micah 5:10: “‘In that day,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots. I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strongholds.'”<\/p>\n

LifeSiteNews<\/a> identified the individual as Qween Amor, a transgender performance artist known for provocative public demonstrations in New York City. The outlet noted, however, that the person’s identity had not been independently confirmed.<\/p>\n

Videos of the Bible-tearing quickly spread online, drawing criticism from social media users who described the display as disrespectful, while others dismissed it as an attempt to attract attention.<\/p>\n

“Is this what we call ‘free speech’??? People just being batshit crazy in public?” one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n

Another suggested the demonstration was designed to generate social media engagement, writing, “Just trying to get likes on her TikTok. There are many on TikTok that do outrageous, disrespectful stuff.”<\/p>\n

“Attention seeker at its finest,” another user commented, calling the display disrespectful.<\/p>\n

The provocative use of both a Bible and a crucifix added a religious dimension to demonstrations taking place on a solemn anniversary for New York City and the nation.<\/p>\n

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks after al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two planes struck the World Trade Center towers in New York, another hit the Pentagon, and a fourth crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew members fought back against the hijackers.<\/p>\n
