Reality television star Spencer Pratt is opening up about his growing faith, crediting his wife, Heidi Montag, with helping guide him onto “the Lord’s path” as he campaigns to become Los Angeles’ first Republican mayor in more than two decades.<\/p>\n

During an interview<\/a> with Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News, Pratt spoke candidly about how his spiritual outlook has changed in recent years and how his wife’s faith has played a major role in that transformation.<\/p>\n

“Thankfully, I married an angel who is very connected with Jesus and has brought me to the light,” Pratt said. “I was always not so bright in the light on the Lord’s path here, and thankfully, my wife has always just been so connected with Jesus and God.”<\/p>\n

Pratt, best known for his time on the MTV reality series The Hills, said his wife has continually encouraged him to trust God’s direction rather than carry the pressure of political ambitions on his own shoulders.<\/p>\n

According to Pratt, Heidi often reminds him: “Spencer, if this is God’s plan, then it will be, and if not, then it won’t.”<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old candidate said that mindset has brought him peace during an intense and highly publicized campaign season in one of America’s largest cities.<\/p>\n

“It’s been very empowering to just pray and just be on this path and just say, ‘God, if you want me to save these animals, save these humans and protect my city, just keep putting me in a place where I can do that,'” Pratt explained. “And if it’s not God’s plan, it won’t happen.”<\/p>\n

He added that surrendering control to God has helped ease the emotional burden he feels about Los Angeles’s future.<\/p>\n

“If that’s not the plan, I won’t be able to feel that anymore, so that will be a blessing also,” he said.<\/p>\n

Pratt also revealed that he leaned heavily on prayer before participating in California’s recent gubernatorial debate, admitting he felt anxious stepping onto the political stage.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never argued with two lying demons live on TV in a political setting,” Pratt said bluntly.<\/p>\n

The reality star said he prayed beforehand, asking God for wisdom and strength.<\/p>\n

“God, if you want this for me, please just have me destroy them live on TV,” he recalled praying before the debate.<\/p>\n

While Pratt acknowledged the uphill battle facing his campaign, he suggested he believes God may still have a larger purpose behind his unexpected political rise.<\/p>\n

“Obviously, I know what needs to be done, but if it was only to expose the lies and the corruption of our beautiful city, I would have been fine if that was God’s plan,” he said. “But it seems like God has me going all the way in five days.”<\/p>\n

Pratt’s comments come just days before Los Angeles voters head to the polls in a closely watched mayoral primary race. The city has not elected a Republican mayor since Richard Riordan left office in 2001.<\/p>\n

Current polling shows<\/a> incumbent Mayor Karen Bass leading the race, with Pratt competing against Bass and fellow Democrat Nithya Raman for a spot in the general election later this year.<\/p>\n

Though Pratt remains a political newcomer, his outspoken faith comments and unconventional campaign style have drawn significant national attention.<\/p>\n

For many Christian supporters, however, it was Pratt’s testimony about his marriage and spiritual journey that resonated most deeply.
