The White House<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A new poll<\/a> is showing that while President Trump continues to enjoy strong support amongst white evangelicals, there may some signs of trouble ahead. The poll was conducted through a joint effort of NPR, Marist, and PBS News. It found that 64% of white evangelicals approve of the job the President has been doing. That number has dropped from 72% in January 2025 from a Pew Research Center poll. A poll from Pew in February 2026 also found a similar decline. In 2025, 66% of white evangelical Protestants stated they supported all or most of President Trump\u2019s policies and plans. That number had dropped to 58% in February 2026. Also, only 40% are mostly or extremely confident that the President acts ethically in office. That\u2019s a share drop from 55% in 2025. The poll also found that President Trump\u2019s support amongst nearly all religious groups had slipped at least a little since February 2025. \u201cWhite evangelicals\u2019 views of Trump are less positive than they were in the early days of his second term. The changes in their views mirror those seen among the U.S. public as a whole,\u201d the poll noted.<\/p>\n

In the NPR\/PBS News\/ Marist poll, the war in Iran appeared to play a key role in evangelicals\u2019 support of the president. Only a slight majority (54%) supported the President\u2019s handling of Iran. 27% of white Evangelicals put a \u201cgreat deal\u201d of blame on the president for rising gas prices, which have risen dramatically since the start of the war. Other issues could be the recent controversy of the President posting an AI-generated image where appeared to be presenting himself as Jesus. Trump\u2019s overall support amongst all Americans, according to the poll, sits at 37% amongst all adults, the lowest it\u2019s been since the beginning of his second term. It\u2019s a dangerous trend with midterms looming, where many analysts warn Republicans could lose their majorities in both the House and Senate.<\/p>\n

The White House, however, has remained positive. \u201cThe ultimate poll was November 5, 2024, when nearly 80 million Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump to deliver on his popular and commonsense agenda,\u201d said White House spokesperson Davis Ingle<\/a>. \u201cNo other president in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump, who is working tirelessly to create jobs, cool inflation, increase housing affordability, and more.
