A recent DOJ report is raising some serious questions about possibly anti-Christian bias during the Biden Administration. The report<\/a>, entitled \u201cEradicating Anti-Christian Bias Within the Federal Government\u201d is 200 pages long and includes some 300 pages of exhibits of the administration\u2019s purported bias. The report stems from one of President Trump\u2019s campaign promises to root out anti-Christian bias. The report alleges that the bias stemmed mostly from attempts to keep religious beliefs out of the public sector. \u201cThe Biden Administration generally tolerated religious beliefs that were privately held but zealously pursued actions to limit Christians\u2019 ability to act in accordance with their faith,\u201d\u00a0it noted.<\/p>\n

The report found disparate penalties were placed against pro-life and Christian organizations compared to their secular counterparts. This was particularly evident in the Biden administration\u2019s use of the\u00a0Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act<\/a>, which the administration used to jail pro-life advocates for allegedly blocking access to abortion clinics. Many of the advocates jailed during the administration were characterized as nonviolent, elderly,\u00a0 or mothers and fathers separated from their families for what would normally have been considered minor offenses. President Trump would go on to pardon 23 such pro-life advocates<\/a> early in his second term, stating, \u201cThey should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly people.\u201d The administration also contemplated limiting resources to pregnancy care centers, which typically offer pro-life alternatives to abortion. According to the report, the Biden administration, \u201cquestioned whether to provide pregnancy resource centers with the same resources as abortion clinics, questioning whether these facilities fall under the FACE Act\u2019s scope.\u201d<\/p>\n

The report also alleges that federal agencies targeted religious employees seeking religious accommodations during the COVID-19 pandemic with \u201cinvasive scrutiny of their beliefs.\u201d The acting Attorney General at the time, Merrick Garland, who is Jewish, denied allegations of bias during a House hearing in 2023. \u201cThe idea that someone with my family background would discriminate against any religion is so outrageous, so absurd,\u201d he said. Jim Simpson, executive director of the Center on Faith and Justice at Georgetown University criticized the report<\/a>, calling it, \u201cadvocacy dressed up as investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche, chair of the Task Force to Eradicate Christian Bias, blasted the treatment of Christians during the Biden administration. \u201cNo American should live in fear that the federal government will punish them for their faith,\u201d he said. \u201cAs our report lays out, the Biden Administration\u2019s actions devastated the lives of many Christian Americans. That devastation ended with President Trump.
