Christian satire site The Babylon Bee is no stranger to poking the bear with some of it scathing jokes about both conservative and liberal figures, but a recent post, about Megyn Kelly appears to have gone too far. In the post, which has since been deleted but is archived<\/a>, the Bee joked, \u201cAfter being drawn into controversy online as part of the ongoing debate within the political right over the U.S.’s relationship with the nation of Israel, Kelly thought twice about continuing to carry her pager with her everywhere.\u201d Kelly had satirically addressed the situation stating \u201cYou can never be too safe these days. From what I’ve seen, being opposed to Israel and carrying a pager can be a dangerous combination.\u201d The post ended stating that Kelly\u2019s garbage can had mysteriously exploded.<\/p>\n

The joke appeared to be referencing current backlash Kelly has experienced from conservatives for refusing to denounce Tucker Carlson, who featured white nationalist Nick Fuentes on his show. Conservative host and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Wire, <\/em>Ben Shapiro, pressed Kelly about being too cozy with antisemitism. \u201cIf I see somebody breach basic moral values by having on a Nazi, in my own view, gloss the Nazi, then I\u2019m going to speak out about that,\u201d Shapiro said to Kelly at a live event, referencing Carlson. He criticized Carlson for platforming a number of individuals, including Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.<\/p>\n

The Bee experienced immediate backlash from the post, with even some conservatives saying it had gone too far. Kelly herself reposted the Bee article, tagging Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon and asking \u201cWTF?\u201d \u201cThis is a fun way for the Babylon Bee to call for murder,\u201d wrote conservative Auron MacIntyre, who has been highly critical of Israel. \u201cLast night [The Babylon Bee] \u2014 which should just re-name itself The Tel Aviv Bee \u2014 threatened Megyn Kelly that she’d be murdered by Israel for refusing to de-platform all Israel critics. As Israel loyalists often do, they used the pager image to pretend it was all just a joke,\u201d wrote Glenn Greenwold<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Babylon Bee has not responded to any requests for comment on the situation. It has also not sent out a formal apology to Kelly or suggested any reason for why the post was removed. Tim Pool of Timcast theorized it might be more for the bad image it made of Israel than of Kelly. \u201cI assume they deleted it because its more offensive to Israel than to @megynkelly<\/a>,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe Joke implies Israel assassinates Americans for criticizing them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
