Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur often known for his bold statements on technology and politics, is now urging his millions of followers to consider something very different: going to church.<\/p>\n

Musk reposted<\/a> a simple message from Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk that read, “Go to church.” While short, the message struck a chord because of who shared it. Musk, who once quipped that he was fine with going to Hell because “more people will be there,” has recently spoken more positively about Christianity and its influence on culture.<\/p>\n

Musk’s Changing Tone on Faith<\/h2>\n

Although Musk has never claimed to be a practicing Christian, he has repeatedly expressed respect for Christian teachings. In a 2024 interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson, Musk described himself as a “big believer in the principles of Christianity,” adding that Jesus’ words carry “tremendous wisdom.” He specifically highlighted the power of forgiveness and the teaching to “turn the other cheek.”<\/p>\n

“I was brought up as an Anglican, and I was baptized,” Musk explained. “While I’m not a particularly religious person, I do believe that the teachings of Jesus are good and wise.”<\/p>\n

At the same time, Musk has also made comments that contradict traditional Christian beliefs. In 2022, he responded<\/a> to an X user who encouraged him to acknowledge a Creator by saying he was “okay with going to hell,” reasoning that the majority of people in human history would be there.<\/p>\n

Still, Musk’s decision to amplify Erika Kirk’s reminder to attend church suggests a softening posture\u2014one that aligns with his own description of being a “cultural Christian,” a term also used by atheist Richard Dawkins to describe himself in recent years.<\/p>\n

A Call For Revival<\/h2>\n

Musk’s post comes at a time when conversations about church attendance and faith have been renewed following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10. His widow, Erika Kirk, has been outspoken about her hope that her husband’s death might spark revival in America.<\/p>\n

Speaking at his memorial service on Sept. 21, she reflected:<\/p>\n

“We didn’t see violence, we didn’t see rioting, we didn’t see revolution. Instead, we saw what my husband always prayed we would see in this country: we saw revival.”<\/p>\n

She went on to describe people rediscovering faith in recent weeks:<\/p>\n

“This past week, we saw people open a Bible for the first time in a decade. We saw people pray for the first time since they were children. We saw people go to a church service for the first time in their entire lives.”<\/p>\n

Signs of Renewed Interest in Church<\/h2>\n

Church leaders have also reported encouraging signs. JP De Gance, founder and president of Communio, told The Christian Post<\/em> that he has heard “a lot of anecdotal feedback from churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Colorado” about increased attendance. One church in Michigan reported seeing young adults who had drifted from church for years return to worship services in the weeks following Kirk’s death.<\/p>\n

De Gance suggested this may be a result of people reflecting on Kirk’s faith and asking deeper questions: “What am I living for right now?”<\/p>\n

A Cultural Shift?<\/h2>\n

Whether Musk’s repost signals a personal faith journey or simply cultural solidarity, it adds weight to a growing movement of public figures acknowledging the importance of Christianity’s influence. For Christians, his words may serve as a reminder that even those who are hesitant about faith can still play a role in pointing others back to Christ and His church.<\/p>\n
