While the world continues to watch the shaky and ever-changing ceasefire between Israel and Iran with bated breath, Christians around the world are certainly beginning to wonder if the conflict may have any connection to Biblical prophecy and the potential return of Christ. Scholars from the Living Waters ministry<\/a>, led by evangelist Ray Comfort, certainly believe the current conflict has some Biblical backing.<\/p>\n

According to the ministry, there are currently two signs that biblical prophecy is being fulfilled. The first can be found in 1 Thessalonians 5:3, which states, \u201cFor when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.\u201d The verse certainly seems to have some reflection in the multiple calls for peace that President Trump has made, including in arranging the truce that still remains in question between the two nations. \u201cA cry for peace in the world is seen by many as a prophetic sign of the last days,\u201d the ministry stated in a podcast. They warned against falling for a false sense of security. Another verse the podcast referenced was Isaiah 17:1, which states, \u201cThe burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.\u201d Damascus has experienced numerous unrest during a Syrian civil war and a suicided bombing on a Christian church.<\/p>\n

In a separate post<\/a>, Living Waters also referenced Ezekiel 38 and 39. \u201cIn Ezekiel 38 and 39, Scripture speaks of a future attack on Israel by a coalition of nations. One key player mentioned is Persia\u2014modern-day Iran,\u201d the post said, noting that \u201cPersia, Ethiopia, and Libya\u201d are included in Ezekiel 38:5. \u201cSome believe we are witnessing the unfolding of these ancient prophecies in real time: a hostile Iran, a threatened Israel, and a world on edge, fearing nuclear war.\u201d Living Waters, however, said that despite the fears that a nuclear war might bring about, Christians can rest assured on the return of Jesus. The post referred to Luke 21:28, which states, \u201cNow when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.\u201d \u201cJesus also said the end wouldn\u2019t come until the gospel had been preached to all nations,\u201d the ministry reminded. \u201cProphecy shouldn\u2019t just fuel curiosity\u2014it should inspire urgency.
