The Trump Organization, through Donald Trump Jr., has<\/span> unveiled a self-titled mobile phone plan<\/span><\/a> and a gold-plated $499 smartphone launching later this year. The President’s branded business interests have secured a licensing agreement, a moment to capitalize on his presidency at a time of crisis in recent history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Inflation. America is facing threats of war. Protests. Immigration riots. But, MAGA Nation has competition in the cellular data world. Although Donald Trump stays active in domestic and foreign affairs, his commercial team never misses a step to find a way to plaster the president\u2019s name on something and make a decent profit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those efforts have included hats and shirts, beer koozies and wine, shoes and sunglasses, pickleball paddles and even Bibles (upon <\/span>which he made $1.3 million<\/span><\/a>, in Jesus\u2019 Name). According to the official \u201cTrump Mobile\u201d website featuring an A.I. version of a long-lost Trump used-car salesman, the \u201call-American performing\u201d phone is a not-so-coincidental $47.45 a month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the investment, customers get the usual perks, such as unlimited talk, text and date, a no-contract agreement, a free SIM kit, and the honor of owning one of these gold-painted phones with \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d on them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>company press release<\/span><\/a> quotes the president\u2019s son, Eric, who is \u201cincredibly excited to step into this new digital space.\u201d He notes that \u201chard-working Americans deserve a wireless service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and delivers reliable quality they can count on.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the new \u201cT1\u201d phone won\u2019t be available until Sept. 2025, leaving eagle-eyed consumers to suggest a reason for the delay\u2014<\/span>it\u2019s likely being made in China<\/span><\/a>. Despite the Trump Organization touting the American-made phone, CNBC spoke to Francisco Jeronimo, vice president at International Data Corp., who takes exception with that statement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no way the phone was designed from scratch, and there is no way it is going to be assembled in the U.S. or completely manufactured in the U.S.,\u201d he said. \u201cThat is completely impossible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Another individual said that \u201cthe U.S. does not have local manufacturing capabilities readily available.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The device will feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, a type of screen primarily manufactured by the South Korean firm Samsung. LG, another South Korean firm, also produces the screen, as does Chinese firm BOE.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
