Kenneth Copeland is facing criticism after he thanked God for a Bentley he had received as a gift from a dying man who hoped it would bring healing. Copeland was speaking at the Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ annual Southwest Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth, Texas and shared his love of the expensive Breitling watches. He showed off one of his diamond-encrusted watches to a man in the front row as he spoke. He shared also that he and Pat Robertson used to gift the watches as \u201cseed gifts,\u201d meaning a gift given in the hopes of future blessing.<\/p>\n

Copeland shared how his friend, Grammy and Dove Award-winning artist Mylon LeFevre, gave him a Bentley with a Breitling clock. He said LeFevre was \u201cbelieving in God for healing.\u201d \u201cWhoa! A Bentley with a \u2026 um \u2026 Thank you, Jesus!\u201d said<\/a> Copeland, recalling his reaction to the gift. The watch would be the 37th<\/sup> Breitling for Copeland. According to reports, Bentley was offering a $230,000 Breitling watch with its Bentayga model.<\/p>\n

Justin Peters, a Bible scholar who has been highly critical of Copeland and the Word of Faith movement, called out Copeland for the comment. \u201cKenneth Copeland knows full well that the people listening to him don\u2019t follow him for exposition; they are there for promises of health and wealth. And there are a lot of sick people listening to him,\u201d he said. \u201cNot just at this convention but all over the world. And they are sick; they are dying, some of them. And some have sick children, children who are dying. The bigger miracle you need, the bigger monetary seed you\u2019d better sow,\u201d he said of Copeland\u2019s theology. \u201cKenneth Copeland is a wicked, dark man.
