As the 2024 election continues to heat up after President Biden and former President Trump\u2019s first debate, a new research poll is showing that voters may not be so thrilled about either of them. The Pew Research Center<\/a> conducted a poll from July 1-7 between 9,424 adults, 7,729 of which were registered voters. Forty-four percent of the registered voters stated that they would vote or lean towards voting for Trump if the elections were today, while 40 percent stated they would vote for or lean towards Biden. If Independent candidate Robert Kennedy, Jr. were removed from the race, those numbers for Trump and Biden would jump to 50 percent and 4 7percent respectively.<\/p>\n

When questioned about the other candidate, 63 percent of both Trump and Biden supporters described the other candidate as \u201cembarrassing.\u201d Thirty-seven percent of Biden supporters stated Biden is embarrassing, while 33percent of Trump voters said Trump is embarrassing. Voters also stated that the current campaign does not impress them, with 87 percent saying the current campaign did not make them feel proud of the country. Sixty-eight percent said the campaign is too negative, a number that may increase given the recent assassination attempt on former president Trump at a rally in Butler, PA. Eighty-one percent of Biden supporters stated they were unsatisfied with their current candidate, a number that might have increased given President Biden\u2019s debate performance at the end of June. Forty-eight percent of Trump supporters reported being dissatisfied. Fifty-three percent of voters supported replacing both Biden and Trump with different candidates. The number of voters who believe Biden is mentally sharp dropped considerably from 2020 to the present day, falling from 46 percent to 24 percent.<\/p>\n

The poll also showed that Trump has held onto a greater majority of his supporters than Biden. Eighty-eight percent of those who supported Trump four years ago still support him today while 79 percent of Biden\u2019s 2020 supporters still support him. However, Biden\u2019s personal conduct is still viewed more favorably than Trump\u2019s, with 14 percent liking Trump\u2019s conduct versus 26 percent. Trump has a lead over Biden in several key policy issues, including immigration, the economy and foreign policy. Meanwhile, Biden does better on some of his abortion policy and working with others on the opposing side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
