Jim Caviezel appeared on \u201cFox & Friends\u201d to discuss the continued success of his film, \u201cSound of Freedom,\u201d which has now made over $100 million<\/a> at the box office. Caviezel noted that the film\u2019s success has a lot to do with America being \u201cfed up,\u201d particularly with open borders at the America\u2019s southern border with Mexico. Caviezel referenced 85,000 missing children<\/a> from the border. The figure comes from a New York Times<\/em><\/a> article published in February that noted government officials had lost contact with 85,000 unaccompanied minors that had been placed with sponsors after crossing the US border illegally. While there is no proof that all those children are being trafficked, government agencies have not been able to satisfactorily state where those children are or what they are doing.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the interview, interviewer Brian Kilmeade asked Caviezel and producer Eduardo Verastegui if more could be done for children in trafficking, to which Caviezel responded \u201cWe\u2019ve got to start with Donald Trump.\u201d When asked to clarify, Caviezel stated \u201cHe\u2019s got to be in there,\u201d seemingly implying Donald Trump should be elected in the 2024 election. \u201cBecause he\u2019s going to go after the traffickers,\u201d Caviezel noted. Caviezel and Verastegui stated they had recently met with the former president at a showing he hosted<\/a> at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. \u201cThis is the new Moses,\u201d Caviezel said of Donald Trump. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m still Jesus, but he\u2019s the new Moses,\u201d he added with a laugh. Caviezel linked the comparison to Moses\u2019s efforts to set the people of Israel free from slavery, saying, \u201cPharaoh, let my children go free.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former president praised the film at the showing in Bedminster, saying \u201cJim, that was unbelievable. Oh, what a job!\u201d of Caviezel\u2019s performance. \u201cYou made this the hottest movie anywhere in the world.\u201d He later added, \u201cIt\u2019s something that I\u2019m not sure you\u2019re supposed to enjoy or learn. It\u2019s a combination. That was a great movie. And now I understand why it is doing so well.\u201d Tim Ballard, whom Caviezel plays in the movie, also attended the showing, and sat down with Trump and Caviezel for a podcast interview afterwards.<\/p>\n

Caviezel\u2019s comment was met with criticism by some, with the Huffington Post<\/em> releasing an article entitled \u201cJim Caviezel Calls Donald Trump \u2018The New Moses\u2019 And We Can’t Let This Pass Over<\/a>.\u201d ABC News<\/em> criticized Donald Trump\u2019s screening of the film<\/a>, with the headline asserting the former president was trying to \u201crally evangelicals around the fear of human trafficking. Angel Studios, which released the film, has pushed back at the film\u2019s politicization, saying<\/a>, \u201cEveryone who’s seen this film knows that it has nothing to do with politics or conspiracy, and that it’s just a great, true story, well-told.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
