Such fines are exceptionally high by French standards.<br \/>\nSuspended prison sentences have also been requested against six of the group&#8217;s French leaders, who are also being tried.<br \/>\nThe group, considered a sect in France, has faced prosecution and difficulties in registering its activities in many countries.<br \/>\nThe Paris trial began late last month.<br \/>\n<em>Associated Press &#8211; June 15, 2009<br \/>\nCopyright 2009 The Associated Press.
